Wall art suiteMacgregor’s Original
Introduction
A custom suite of posters created to fit out the popular Melbourne restaurant, Macgregors Original.
Brief
The client needed wall art in their shop, formerly the Magpie corner store in Abbotsford, which had recently been fitted to film Empire City starring Gerard Butler. When Macgregor’s Original had taken over the shop there was a lack of warmth and personality in the restaurants fit out. The client requested a series of burger related posters.
My role
I concieved the idea for Chinese and Mexican posters to contrast the mid-century ‘American Burger Joint’ aesthetic of the venue, showing the global influences behind the product served at Macgregor’s. I developed these original illustrations were created using the adobe suite, focusing on early 20th Shanghainese calendar illustrations, known as “Yuefenpai”, as well as vintage Mexican movie posters. The posters were made to print and are displayed in-house.
